Dieting doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, some rather easy diets can help people reach their weight loss goals. It’s just a matter of knowing which foods to eat. The protein diet and other meal plans involve eating nutritious foods that help the body burn fat. According to Forbes Magazine, these diets work best when they are used as part of a lifestyle change that includes regular physical activity. Always check with a physician before starting a new diet.

Protein Diet

Research suggests that a high protein diet can help people lose more weight. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition analyzed how protein effects weight loss. Researchers found that dieters who ate meals that consisted of 30 percent protein lost more weight and were not as hungry between meals.

For best results, dieters should eat about 120 grams of protein daily. To meet this requirement, gradually start eating more protein foods during a one week period. Reduce fat intake by 20 percent and limit carbohydrates to 50 percent of the total diet. Stick with protein foods that are low in calories and fat such as beans, lean meat, soy and low-fat dairy foods.

Fat Burning Diet Programs

Forbes Magazine has put together a list of what it says are diets that work. The Glycemic Index, also known as the GI Diet, is included on the list. It involves eating diet meals which consist of low GI carbohydrates. These foods help control blood sugar and insulin levels by preventing dramatic spikes and dips. This diet includes foods such as plain yogurt, oats, whole grains, barley, skin milk, and bran.

The Macrobiotic Diet is another program that consists of fat burning foods. This is basically a vegetarian diet that involves consuming mostly vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Recommended foods for this diet include soy bean foods, seeds, beans, nuts, brown rice, and fish.

The Sonoma Diet is also on the list. This meal plan is derived from the Sonoma wine country which is a blend of Latin American, Mediterranean, and Asian cuisine. It is centered around 10 fat burning foods. Examples of foods from this diet include blueberries, spinach, lean protein, almonds, feta cheese, olive oil, strawberries, wine, and whole grains.
