Natural acne remedies which involve the use of herbs and other simple treatments can help get rid of pimples and blemishes. Apple cider vinegar, as well as fruit juices can easily be made into an acne home treatment that is safe and easy to use.
Acne Home Treatment
There are some simple routines a person can do at home to help get rid of acne. One way to do this is to expose the affected area to steam. Do this by either holding the face over a bowl of hot water, or close the bathroom doors and take a warm shower. The steam will open and unclog the pores.
Fruit juices can also help unclog the pores. The natural acids found in the fruit help remove dead skin cells, according to Everything You Need to Know about Acne by Jennifer Ceaser. To use naturally, exfoliate the skin, dip a cotton ball into lemon juice and dab it directly onto the acne. Leave it on for ten minutes and then rinse it off. The juice from oranges and other citrus fruits work just as well.
Apple cider vinegar is recommended as a fast and effective treatment to get rid of pimples and blemishes in The Healing Powers of Vinegar by Cal Orey. Combine two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with one cup of water. Cleanse the skin and use a cotton ball to apply the mixture to the skin several times a day.
Herbal Acne Home Treatment Options
Certain herbs which contain anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties can reduce the appearance of acne for some people, especially in mild to moderate cases. Green tea cream is made from the healing properties of the tea leaf. This pimple treatment works as well as benzoyl peroxide, according to Acne for Dummies by Herbert P. Goodheart.
Another herb that can reduce acne is calendula, also known as pot marigold. This plant produces flowers, which are used to make creams and lotions. It is also available as a tea. To treat acne, wash the affected areas with the tea.
Use tea tree oil to get rid of stubborn acne. This herb has powerful anti-septic properties which can inhibit the growth of the bacteria that causes acne. Other herbs that can treat and prevent acne include licorice root, Echinacea, witch hazel, and flaxseed oil.
