Home remedies and creams can help eliminate skin discolorations caused by acne, rashes and other conditions. Healthy foods that many people already have in their kitchen can be used to make a blemish remover. Creams and lotions can also help fade skin blemishes. However, most of these treatments take a while to lighten the skin so it’s important to use these treatments regularly.
Lighten Skin Blemishes With Homemade Remedies
Certain foods can be mixed together to make a natural blemish remover. In St. Jude’s Herbal Home Remedies, Jude C. Williams and Jude Todd suggest using egg whites for this purpose. Take the whites from one egg and measure it. Then mix it with the same amount of lemon juice.
Pour the mixture into a custard cup and set it in a pot of hot water. Put it on low heat and continue to mix it until it is like a custard in texture. Allow it to cool and gently apply it to the face. Let it stay on overnight.
Yogurt is another recommended skin discoloration treatment because it lightens the complexion of the skin. Cover the face with plain yogurt right before going to bed. Let it stay on overnight and then rinse it off in the morning.
Aloe Vera as a Blemish Remover
Use aloe vera juice to even out the skin tone. Apply it to the skin daily to gradually remove age spots and old scars. Put aloe vera juice on new cuts and burns to prevent scars from forming. Be patient with this blemish treatment. It can take several months for it to even out the skin tone.
Blemish Removal Creams
Over-the-counter creams can also help lighten skin blemishes. These products usually take several weeks to produce noticeable results but they are effective. Prevention magazine recommends using lotions or creams that contain two percent hydroquinone (HQ). HQ reduces the production of melanin, which gives the skin its color.
Lotions containing vitamin B are also effective skin lighteners which can help fade blemishes. Look for niacinamide on the ingredients label. This form of vitamin B prevents melanin from making its way into the cells of the skin. Creams that contain retinoid, which is a form of vitamin A, can also help even out the skin tone
